LOWVILLE, NY — The family of Eugene J. Misercola, a resident of Lowville, New York, and Clearwater, Florida, announces his death on August 18 at the age of 85. He died peacefully at his home in Clearwater.
Born in Watertown, New York, on May 10, 1941, Eugene was the son of Anthony and Anna Misercola. Following his graduation from Watertown High School, he studied civil engineering at Clarkson College of Technology (now Clarkson University). He spent his career as an engineer and surveyor.
He will be remembered for his kindness, gentle nature, sense of humor, passion for music, quest for knowledge, enjoyment of the outdoors, and appreciation for healthy food and exercise. He was a treasured family member and friend who taught everyone who knew him the beauty and value of living simply, quietly, and meaningfully.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Joseph Misercola, his sisters Rita Foster and Eileen Barbalich, and a niece, Anna Barbalich. He is survived by his nieces and nephews who loved, respected, and admired him: Karen Misercola (Watertown), Michael Misercola (Syracuse, NY), Lisa Chantra (Fairport, NY), Stephanie Misercola (Gilbert, AZ), Laura Mallan (Adams), Julia Marselis (Ridgeland, SC), Anthony Misercola (Three Mile Bay), Maria Massarini (Ashburn, VA), Joseph Foster (Watertown), Terri Grewell (Oklahoma City, OK), Paula Skipper (Summerville, SC), Andrea Barbalich (Larchmont, NY), Jon Barbalich (Spring, TX), and Matthew Barbalich (Black River), as well as numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
At Eugene’s request, a service will not be held.
