Eva R. Millard, 96, Lowville

LOWVILLE, NY – Eva R. Millard, 96, of the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility and formerly of Bostwick Street died on Sunday evening, Feb. 3, 2019, with her family at her side.

Mrs. Millard was born May 18, 1922, in town of Montague, the daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Sesock) Repak. Eva attended Rectors Corners country school and graduated from Lowville Free Academy in 1939.

She married Foster W. Millard on Aug. 24, 1941, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Rev. George L. Murray officiating. Eva and Foster made their home on Bostwick Street. He died on March 27, 2007.

Eva worked at Porter Cable in Syracuse and later Easy Washer in the 1940’s as a bookkeeper. She continued her clerical work and went to work at Lowville Veneer in the 1950’s. She joined her husband at the family business, Millard’s Farm Equipment on Bostwick Street in 1959. She helped with moving the business in 1966 to the “Y” in Lowville and later helped her sons when they purchased the business.

Eva was a talented artist, and she enjoyed oil painting, her real joy was spending time with her family and cooking for them.

She is survived by her three children, Laurie and John Turck of Croghan; Al Millard and Mark and Kathy Millard all of Lowville; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; her three sisters, Madeline Pitcher of Watertown; Katherine Bernat and Irene Lehman both of Lowville; her brother, John and Josephine Repak of Lowville; several nieces and nephews.

Eva was predeceased by her five sisters, Mary Doviak, Helen Toth, Anna Petrus, Alice Chambers, Martha McDonald, her two brothers, Nicholas and Anthony Repak.

Her funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at the Sundquist Funeral Home with Rev. David Herrmann officiating. Spring burial will be in Martinsburg Cemetery.

Calling hours for family and friends will precede the funeral on Saturday, Feb. 9, starting at 11 a.m. until the time of funeral.
