BROWNVILLE, NY — Evelyn A. Hughes, 85, Brownville, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Samaritan Summit Village Watertown.
Private services will be held at the convenience of her family.
Born Aug. 13, 1935, in Watertown, a daughter to Clifford R. and Evelyn (Carr) Sawyer, she received her education locally.
She married Franklyn A. Hughes on June 21, 1958. They were married for 46 years until Mr. Hughes passed away on March 30, 2005.
Evelyn worked as a nanny in Scotia, New York for most of her life. There, she took great joy in helping to raise two children, Matt and Katie Dillon. In her free time, Evelyn enjoyed shopping, family, helping others, cooking for neighbors, and getting her hair done every Wednesday.
She is survived by her sister, Peggy (Donald) Smith of Glen Park and brother, Michael (Debra) Sawyer of Florida. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides her husband, Franklyn, she was predeceased by three siblings, Arlene (John) Morrison, Beverly (Larry) Pierce, and Sally (Robert) Pesce.
