WFD Fire Report: 744 Hancock Street

Incident: Structure Fire

Location: 744 Hancock St. Watertown, NY

Companies Responding: E-1, E-2, E-3, T-1, R-1, Chief 3

The City of Watertown Fire Department responded to a structure fire in a single-family residence. Engine 3 first on scene found one occupant was outside the home and the first floor was filled with smoke. Engine 3 made entry and extinguished a fire in the kitchen. Truck 1 cleared smoke from the building. Rescue searched the building until confirmation that all occupants were accounted for. The fire was quickly controlled, and smoke cleared with damage to the kitchen and attached living room. The home will be re-occupied after repairs are made however it is currently unable to be occupied.

One resident was taken to SMC with non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries reported.

After Investigation, the cause was determined to be unattended cooking. Assistance provided at the scene by Watertown Police, Guilfoyle Ambulance, National Grid, Watertown Water Department and Watertown Code Enforcement. Fort Drum Fire Department requested to the scene and were cancelled prior to arrival.
