Former law office employee accused of embezzlement, police say

WATERTOWN, NY —  The Watertown Police Department released the following statement on Nov. 20, 2019:

On Feb. 11, 2019, a representative of the Patrick L. Evans Law Office filed a larceny report with our Criminal Investigation Division that the law firm was missing several thousand dollars from its escrow account.

The investigation showed that a former employee had committed several forgeries and stolen from the law firm starting in 2011. The reported larceny is in excess of
$50,000. Our investigation was turned over to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office for review and later presented to the grand jury.

On 11/04/2019, the Hon. Kim Martusewicz signed a sealed indictment in reference to the above.

On 11/14/2019, the former employee was arrested at our station and held overnight at the Jefferson County Jail. She is identified as 57 year old Carmen A. Disario of 24891 County Route 53 Watertown, NY.

On 11/15/2019, Ms. Disario was arraigned in Jefferson County Court. The indictment contains the crimes of: second-degree grand larceny, second-degree criminal possession of stolen property and 20 counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument. She was released on her own recognizance.
