Fort Drum launches smartphone app

FORT DRUM, NY – Fort Drum officials are always looking for newer, better ways to communicate with Soldiers, Families and civilians.  The latest tool, now available, is a Fort Drum app – currently ready for download on iTunes and Google Play.

The app features events, homecoming and dining facility calendars, maps and phone numbers – information most requested by those unfamiliar with Fort Drum and the surrounding area.  It also has a navigation feature that will assist users in finding the most frequented locations on post.  And especially useful for Fort Drum residents, it will provide another place to check the installation’s status during times of inclement weather.  Special news, events and surveys will be featured in a scrolling window on the app’s front page.

“It is our hope that this platform will be a useful tool for those living and working on and around Fort Drum,” said Julie Halpin, installation public affairs officer.

“We hope that users will take advantage of the ‘contact us’ option in the app to let us know what we’re doing right and also how we can better utilize the app to meet their information needs,” she added.

The app is free to all users.  Search “Fort Drum” and look for the 10th Mountain Division patch.
