Seven store clerks cited for selling alcohol to person under the age of 21

WATERTOWN, NY —  The Watertown Police Department released the following statement:

“On 09/25/2021, the Watertown Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office did a compliance check on local businesses to ensure that customers purchasing alcoholic beverages for off premises consumption were properly identified to confirm that they were 21 years of age or older.

The following stores in the City of Watertown were found out of compliance and cited:

State Street Market at 1313 State St
State Street Wine and Liquor at 804 State St
The General Store at 816 Bradley St
Franklin Street Market at 263 Franklin St

The following stores in the City of Watertown were found to be in compliance: Mobil at 1268 Arsenal St, Sunoco at 1255 Arsenal St, Price Chopper at 1283 Arsenal St, Quicklee’s at 1279 Coffeen St, Byrne Dairy at 1003 Coffeen St, Kinney Drugs at 905 Coffeen St, Walgreens at 929 Arsenal St, Arsenal Wine and Liquor at 940 Arsenal St, Bottlecaps at 952 Arsenal St, Gold Star Liquor at 341 Arsenal St, Gold Star Deli at 343 Arsenal St, Valero at 262 Arsenal St, Stewart’s at 229 N Massey St, Sunoco at 1222 Washington St, Stewart’s at 1226 Washington St, Kinney Drugs at 1304 Arsenal St, Gateway Liquor at 1324 Washington St, Tops at 1330 Washington St, Sunoco at 610 State St, Fastrac at 1709 State St, Kinney Drugs at 1729 State St, Stewart’s at 508 Mill St, and Seven Eleven at 430 Factory St.
