LOWVILLE, NY – Frances M. Britton, 92, died Monday, May 6, 2019, at Lewis County General Hospital, with her loving family by her side.
Her family would like to thank Dr. Vora and his office staff, the ER staff of the hospital and the East Wing Comfort Care nurses for their care and concern.
Mrs. Britton was born April 23, 1927, in the town of Harrisburg, a daughter of the late Melvin and the late Mary Delia (Cody) Farney. She married Robert Clifford Britton on September 16, 1949, in Adams at the bride’s home, with Rev. William D. Aubry, Minister of Gospel officiating. The couple purchased a farm in 1959, on route 177 and in 1969, they bought the New Boston store which they operated for a number of years. Mr. Britton passed away on March 15, 2015.
Frances was a communicant of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Boston, where she volunteered cleaning the church. She enjoyed raising canaries, parakeets and cockatiels, knitting and crocheting, playing cards, watching NASCAR and WWF and spending as much quality time with her family and friends as possible. Her fun and loving personality, her blue eyes and smile would light up a room.
Surviving are her children, Katie (Tom) Ackerman of Wassaic, Chester (Cheryl) Britton of Lowville, Margaret (Fred) Sweredoski of Lowville and Patrick (Krystal) Britton of Lee Center; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; and her sister, Bessie Champion of Watertown; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Richard and Charles Farney and her grandson, Robert Morales.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, May 10, at the Sundquist Funeral Home with Rev. Mr. Ronald Pominville, Deacon officiating. Burial will follow at the Lowville Rural Cemetery. Family and friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 9, at the funeral home.
