FREE food drive-thru events scheduled for Cape Vincent and Madrid

FREE Food Drive-Thru Events Scheduled for Cape Vincent and Madrid Saturday, September 19 

WHAT:   The Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (C.F.A.P.) and Nourish New York government-funded grants have made it possible for community organizations to provide much needed food to those in need.

WHO:  American Dairy Association North East is working with USDA-approved vendor Renzi Foodservice, along with community organization recipients, to help distribute more than 43,000 pounds of food through two drive through events.

WHERE/WHEN:

Cape Vincent Elementary School (410 Esselstyne St., Cape Vincent, N.Y. 13618) Saturday, September 19 beginning at 10 a.m. With the help of the Cape Vincent Community Food Pantry with the cooperation of the Town and Village of Cape Vincent, more than 21,000 pounds of food will be distributed. There will be 360 boxes each of produce, meat, and dairy items, each containing 20 pounds of products. Each vehicle will receive one of each box, while supplies last.

Madrid-Waddington Central School (2582 NY-345, Madrid, N.Y. 13660) Saturday, September 19 beginning at 10 a.m. With the help of Madrid-Waddington Central School District and local fire and rescue first responders from Madrid and Waddington more than 21,000 pounds of food will be distributed. There will be 360 boxes of produce, 373 boxes of meat, and 362 boxes of dairy items, each containing 20 pounds of products.  Each vehicle will receive one of each box, while supplies last.

HOW:  To ensure the safety and health of all involved in the distributions, there will be a drive-thru distribution process for these events. All drivers and passengers must remain in their vehicles and will be prompted to open their trunk to receive food products. If cars do not have a trunk, they will be prompted to open their window. Walk-ups will not be permitted. No registration or paperwork is required for this distribution.

WHY:   Dairy foods are an important source of essential nutrients. Local dairy farmers are committed to producing wholesome, nourishing milk for families throughout the community.
