Garna M. Morgan, 92, formerly of Watertown

WATERTOWN, NY — Garna M. Morgan, 92, formerly of Watertown, passed away Monday morning, Dec. 31, 2018, at the Cottages at Garden Grove, Cicero.

Calling hours will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown. A prayer service will be held 10:15 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at the funeral home followed by the funeral mass celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church with Rev. Christopher Looby, pastor, presiding. Entombment will be in Glenwood Mausoleum.

Garna was born in Rosiere on October 10, 1926, daughter of the late Lewis H. and Edna Zimmerman Stumpf. She attended schools in Cape Vincent, then in Carthage, attending Augustinian Academy and graduating from Carthage High School. She then attended the Watertown School of Commerce.

On Jan. 17, 1946, she married Robert J. Morgan at St. Paul’s Church, Black River with Fr. Dewey officiating. Mr. Morgan died July 24, 1987.

She worked at Pine Camp in various positions, for 4 – H, and at Empsall’s. She then worked for Jefferson County Board of Elections and retired as supervisor in 1991. She then worked part time for the Bon-Ton for ten years. Garna was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church and a member of its Altar and Rosary Society. She was a life member of the Northside Improvement League.

She was a  member of Jefferson County Democratic Committee and enjoyed playing bingo.

She is survived by her three sons and their wives, R. Joseph and Linda Morgan, Las Vegas, NV, Darrell P. and Darlene Morgan, Elkton, MD, and Allen F. and Marianne Morgan, Rochester Hills, MI; her daughter and her husband, Mary Anne E. and Richard Hankins, Brewerton; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A sister, Bertha Doctore, died before her.
