Gary C. Hallett, 79, Adams Center

ADAMS CENTER, NY  —  Gary C. Hallett, 79, Adams Center, passed away Monday, Oct. 30, 2023, at the Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown.

He is survived by a son Mark (Teal) Hallett; two daughters, Sara Mustizer and Mary Beth (Matt) Ramsey; six grandchildren, Taylor (Sari) Mustizer, Whitney Hallett (Michael Sboro), Cole Hallett (Braydon Frederick), Paige Viscotha (Athan Spiru), Kevin Viscotha (Mackenzie Avery), Lucas Hallett (Kasie LaVere); great-grandchildren Vincenzo and Nico Sboro, Bentley and Paisley Mustizer, Everleigh Ryan and Reid Hallett; sister-in-law Suanne Hallett; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Ellen, a brother, David, and a grandson, Anthony Mustizer.

Born Sept. 11, 1944, in Watertown, a son of Thomas and Donna Barclay Hallett, he graduated in 1962 from Adams High School. He served in the US Army on active duty and reserves from 1967 to 1972.

Following his honorable discharge from the military, he returned home to work for the Adams Electric Light Company (Later Niagara Mohawk), the family farm in Adams Center, the Nestle Food Corporation, and finished his career as owner and operator of Hallett’s Forest Products.

Gary was a member of the American Legion Don Rounds Post 586 and the NRA. Of his many activities he enjoyed being an avid hunter, trapper, and outdoorsman. He was an active member of the Black River Beagle Club and the Farmers Protective Pheasant Club.

Of his many pleasures in life, his greatest treasure was sharing time in the woods. He spent many hours teaching family, especially his grandchildren, his love for nature.

Upon Gary’s wishes, there will be a celebration of Life 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023, at the American Legion in Adams.
