SYRACUSE, NY — The Syracuse Regional Airport Authority today launched the new Gateside by TSA Precheck program at Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR) giving eligible visitors an opportunity to accompany loved ones beyond the security checkpoint.
Gateside by TSA PreCheck is a new program that allows eligible TSA PreCheck members and members of qualifying trusted traveler programs with a Known Traveler Number (KTN) to request access to the terminal beyond the security checkpoint, even when they are not flying. Approved visitors can greet arriving passengers, accompany loved ones to their departure gate, or enjoy the airport’s dining and shopping options.
Gateside passes are free and must be requested one to three days before the planned visit. Approval is required before arriving at the airport, and all visitors must undergo TSA security screening. Children may accompany an eligible parent or guardian but must be included on the adult’s application. Initially, SYR will offer a limit of 75 Gateside passes per day.
Approved adult visitors must bring a REAL ID compliant driver’s license or identification card, a passport or another TSA accepted form of identification.
“The TSA Gateside Pass Program is a wonderful addition for our community and enhances the travel experience for so many families,” said SRAA Executive Director Jason Terreri. “Whether it is parents seeing their college student off at the gate, military families spending a few extra minutes together before a deployment, or loved ones greeting travelers the moment they step off the aircraft, this program helps create meaningful moments that were once reserved only for ticketed passengers. At Syracuse Hancock International Airport, we’re proud to partner with TSA to make travel more welcoming and to provide families with the opportunity to share those special arrivals and departures together.”
“TSA is proud to partner with Syracuse Hancock International Airport to bring Gateside by TSA PreCheck to the Syracuse community,” said Brian Bushnell, TSA Federal Security Director for Upstate New York. “This initiative provides an innovative way for non-ticketed visitors to access the post-security side of the airport while maintaining the strong security standards the public expects. Whether welcoming a loved one home, seeing someone off, or experiencing the airport’s amenities, Gateside creates new opportunities for our community to connect with the airport in a meaningful way. We appreciate the continued partnership with Syracuse Airport as we work together to enhance the passenger and visitor experience while keeping security at the forefront of everything we do.”
