General Brown announces Class of 2019 leaders

DEXTER, NY — The General Brown Central School District is proud to announce the Class of 2019 valedictorian and salutatorian.

This year’s valedictorian is Madison Cloonan with an academic average of 97.261. Miss Cloonan is the daughter of Stephen and Karen Cloonan of Brownville.

Miss Cloonan has participated in numerous extracurricular activities, which include the National Honor Society, International Club, Math League, and Key Club. Miss Cloonan has remained on the high honor roll during all four years of high school and was selected as a 7 News Academic All-Star this year.

She is the recipient of the University of Rochester Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award.

Miss Cloonan plans to attend Jefferson Community College in the fall to major in Early Childhood.

This year’s salutatorian is Carson Pickeral with an academic average of 97.08. Mr. Pickeral is the son of Robert and Jannell Pickeral of Brownville. He is an active participant of National Honor Society, Whiz Quiz, Math League, and International Club. He also volunteers his time coaching youth lacrosse.

Mr. Pickeral has been a four year member of the Varsity Football team, earning All-North honors, a four year member of the Varsity Lacrosse team, and a team captain. He was a Frontier League All-Star, All-North All-Star, and the 2018 MVP for Lacrosse. He also earned the US Lacrosse Academic All-American Award for 2019.

Mr. Pickeral has remained on the high honor roll during all four years of high school. He is the recipient of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Scholar Athlete Award.

Mr. Pickeral plans to attend Nazareth in the fall where he will major in Finance and continue playing Lacrosse.
