DEXTER, NY — General Brown High School has announced its distinguished Class of 2026 leaders.
Valedictorian
Isabella Shambo, daughter of Silvia Shambo, has been named valedictorian with an academic grade point average of 98.729.
Isabella has been an active participant in the International Club, Math League, and the Performing Arts Club, where she served on the stage crew for the school production of Matilda Jr.
Isabella’s academic achievements have earned her numerous honors, including
recognition as a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program, as well as the Rural and Small-Town Recognition Award, the National Recognition Program School Recognition Award, and the Rochester Institute of Technology Computing Award. She has also been recognized locally as both Student of the Month and Student of the Quarter.
In addition to her school involvement, Isabella pursues independent interests in web development, game development, and learning Japanese.
Isabella plans to attend Cornell University in the fall to major in Computer Science.
Salutatorian
Kody Cheung, son of Cam Anh Ngo and Harold Cheung , has been named the
salutatorian with an academic grade point average of 98.320.
Kody received the Rural and Small-Town Recognition Award and School Recognition Award from the National Recognition Program. He has also earned the NYSPHAA Scholar-Athlete Award, the Rensselaer Medalist Award and the Boys State Good Citizen Citation. Kody has been a four-year member of the Varsity Golf team and was elected President of General Brown’s National Honor Society chapter. He has attained the level of Sharpshooter in both Air Pistol and Air Rifle. Kody placed 3rd in both an at-home Air Pistol competition and in the New Shooters category in prone at the New York State Championship.
Kody has remained on the high honor roll all four years of high school and has
volunteered his time at Samaritan Medical Center, community clean up events, as an SAT peer tutor and as a Physics Lab Assistant.
This fall, Kody plans to attend Jefferson Community College for Engineering Science before transferring to the University at Buffalo to major in Aerospace Engineering.
Outstanding Vocational Student
Alan Ayotte has been selected as General Brown’s Outstanding Vocational Student with an academic grade point average of 95.453. Mr. Ayotte is the son of Luke Ayotte and Sherry Ayen.
Alan is ranked 17th in his graduating class and has an average of 94.0 at the Bohlen Technical Center in the Criminal Justice program. He is an active member of General Brown’s Math League and the Varsity Baseball Team.
Alan has been on the high honor roll throughout high school and was nominated as a Student of the Quarter for Criminal Justice.
Alan plans to attend Jefferson Community College in the fall. He intends to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice and his career goal is to become a NYS trooper.
