General Brown Central School District announces Class of 2023 leaders

DEXTER, NY —  General Brown Central School District is proud to announce the Class of 2023 leaders.

This year’s valedictorian is Miss Ashlee Ward with an academic grade point average of 98.24. Miss Ward is the daughter of Mr. Michael and Julie Ward, Watertown, NY. She is the Vice President of the Class of 2023 and an active participant of National Honor Society, Student Council, International Club and Math League.

Miss Ward has been a four-year member of the Varsity Soccer, Basketball and Softball teams. She has served as Captain for all three sports and has earned Frontier League All-Star in all three sports. Miss Ward was a 2021-22 recipient of the Sportsmanship Award at the New York State Basketball Championship.  

Miss Ward has remained on the high honor roll during all four years of high school and was selected as a 7 News Academic All-Star this year. She actively volunteers in her community to include the Healthy Kids Program and Samaritan Medical Center.

Miss Ward plans to attend University of Buffalo in the fall majoring in Biomedical Sciences.

This year’s salutatorian is Mr. Gabe Malcolm with an academic grade point average of 97.551. Mr. Malcolm is the son of Mr. Jesse and Richelle Malcolm. He is an active participant of National Honor Society, Student Council, and Math League. 

Mr. Malcolm has been a four-year member of the Football and Lacrosse teams, three of which were Varsity levels for both. He also served as team captain for both Football and Lacrosse. In Football, Mr. Malcolm has been a Scholar Athlete all four years of high school and has earned awards for All CNY 1st Team, All North 1st Team, All State Honorable Mention, 1st Team All League, Times North Co-MVP, and Section III Class C Championship Game MVP. In Lacrosse, he has earned Frontier League 2nd Team as well as Scholar Athlete all four years.

Mr. Malcolm has remained on the high honor roll during all four years of high school. He actively volunteers within his community and school. 

Mr. Malcolm plans to attend Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, PA in the fall majoring in Engineering.

This year’s Outstanding Vocational Student is Mr. Julian St. Croix with an academic grade point average of 95.08 and is ranked 11th in his class. Mr. St. Croix is the son of Mr. Jayson and Amy St. Croix of Dexter, NY.

Mr. St. Croix has an average of 96.0 at BOCES in the Motorcycle, Marine, and Power Sports Program. He is graduating with an Advanced Regents Diploma. He is a member of the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society.

Mr. St. Croix has remained on the honor roll during all four years of high school. He was selected as a 7 News Career-Tech All-Star.

Mr. St. Croix plans to attend Jefferson Community College in the fall for two years and then transfer to a four-year college to pursue a degree in Business and Construction Management.
