Gouverneur woman accused of biting and scratching state trooper

GOUVERNEUR, NY —  On Aug. 7, 2021, at 7:07 p.m., State Police responded to a residence on County Route 12 in Gouverneur for a report of criminal mischief. 27-year-old Amber L. Dashner of Gouverneur had struck a mailbox at a neighboring residence, causing damages, troopers said.

When troopers responded to investigate, Dashner was placed in custody. She began to resist arrest, and scratched, punched and bit the trooper, causing lacerations to the trooper’s face and arms. The trooper was treated at Gouverneur Hospital.

Dashner was charged with second-degree assault, resisting arrest and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

She was arraigned at Town of Gouverneur Court and released under supervision of probation. She is to reappear in court at a later date and time.
