Hit the trails to look for recycling rocks

WATERTOWN, NY —  More than 30 brightly colored “recycling rocks” have been scattered along the three public recreational trails owned by the Development Authority of the North Country, waiting for hikers to find them!

Find one, snap a photo, post it to the North Country Recycles Facebook page with #recyclingrocks, and put the rock in a new location for someone else to find.

The rocks were painted by children at the Authority’s open house in August. The colorful rocks contain recycling messages, reminding us all to think about environmental stewardship.

The rocks can be found along the Kanik Trail on Route 11 near Calcium, and at the
Murray and Glasier trails, both located on the regional Materials Management Facility property on Route 177 in Rodman. Look for them on tree stumps, along the trails, near bridges, and maybe even poking out of a hole in a tree!
