James D. Forney Sr., 64, Antwerp

ANTWERP, NY — James David Forney Sr., 64, of 35220 Carpenter Road, Antwerp, passed away, Monday evening, March 11, 2019, at home.

He was born on June 7, 1954, at his Great Aunt Jess’ home at South Mechanic Street, Carthage, NY where his mom, Verna Forney was spending time waiting for her child to be born. His father, Francis John Forney was at home taking care of the 5 other children Sally, Baldy, Frankie, Peter, Rita, and the dairy cattle on their farm on the Carpenter Road in Antwerp. They were all anxiously awaiting the news of their new sibling birth who would be named James but would call him Jim or Jimmy.

James graduated from Indian River High School in 1972.

On Aug. 9, 1986, he married Karen Felix, daughter of Margaret and Conrad Felix, and they then raised 3 wonderful children, Jamie, James Jr. and Johnny. After some passing of time several grandchildren were born, Spencer, Bailiegh Jo, Mason, and Rayland John, and how they loved those kids.

Jim loved painting homes, buildings, barns, etc. as well as bridges. He took great pride in his work.

He loved fishing, hunting, trapping, and worked very hard to support his family. Most of all he loved his family, and they knew it. Jim had many great friends with whom he enjoyed all his hobbies.

Survivors include his wife, Karen; their daughter, Jamie Jo and her husband, Andrew Rennie, and their children, Spencer and Bailiegh Jo; a son, James David and his wife, Holly, and their son, Rayland John; a son, Johnny, his son, Mason. Margaret Felix, his mother in law, sister Sally Waite, and a friend, George Dillingham that lived with them most of their years. James and Karen consider him their brother.

James was predeceased by his Mom, Verna Toth Forney, his Dad, Francis John Forney; four siblings, Peter, Baldy, Rita, and Frankie, Karen’s Dad, Conrad Felix a niece, Catherine Mary Sampson.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2019, at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa, with Rev. Donald Briant officiating.

Calling hours will be 1 to 3 p.m. Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.
