Janina Osgood, 73, Henderson

HENDERSON, NY – Janina Osgood, 73, of Watertown and Henderson, NY, passed away peacefully in her home after a brief battle with cancer with her loving family by her side on Jan. 9, 2021.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Cleveland Funeral Home Inc., Watertown.

Janina was born in Poland on May 10, 1947, the daughter of Adela (Parzych) and Wladyslaw Popielarczyk. After immigrating to the US with her husband she started a family and raised 3 daughters in Oakville, CT.

She retired after over 20+ years from Covidien formerly Tyco Healthcare / Sherwood Medical earning many awards and promotions. After retiring she substituted at the local high school her grandsons attended.

Janina’s family always came first, she was a wise strong woman, committed, loving and generous to her family and those close to her. She was an advocate for women and mentally challenged persons. She always had a smile on her face and dance in her step that would light up the room, whether she was dressed to perfection or wearing an apron making her potato pancakes and delicious treats for her family and friends.

Charity started at home for Janina but she always found extra to be charitable to others. She was a vital member of the Queen of Heaven Why Catholic Ladies Prayer Group. Along with regular meetings, whenever a prayer request developed, she would immediately join into a prayer huddle for the petitioner. Janina utilized her sewing ability to create a winning float for Queen of Heaven Church in one of the annual Henderson Memorial Day Parades. She was a member of the Henderson Garden Club. As a member of the Henderson Historical Society, she took part in the annual 4th grade day, teaching the children to make toys. She will also be greatly missed as the hostess for the museum at Henderson Heritage Day. Her captivating personality and smile welcomed visitors new and old.

She was also an active volunteer at the Disabled Persons Action Organization in Watertown.

Janina is survived and dearly missed by her fiancé Joseph Griglak from Port Charlotte, FL. and Henderson, NY. She is also survived by her daughters. Eva and husband Clark (Kuzebski) McCain, Westbrook, CT, and Margaret Kuzebski, Watertown, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ashley, Taylor and David McCain, Westbrook, CT, Thomas (Destiny) Desormeau, and Peter Desormeau, Henderson and Watertown, NY, Lisa and Sara Pignone, Watertown, and Adela Edick, Lowville, NY; her sister, Anna Pulawska, Thomaston, CT; as well as three great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins of CT and Poland.

She was predeceased by her mother and father of Poland, her daughter Teresa Kuzebski Desormeau and son-in-law John Desormeau of Watertown, NY; sisters: Jadwiga Godomska, Marrisha Gadomska, and brothers Kazimierz, Antoni, Marian and Czeslaw all of Poland; as well as many brother and sister-in-laws. She is also predeceased by her ex-husband Elliot Osgood.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2021, at the Queen of Heaven Church, 8900 Seaway Trail, Henderson, NY. A burial will follow at St. Cecilia Cemetery in Henderson, NY.
