Jeffrey A. DeCecchis, 57, formerly of Copenhagen

COPENHAGEN, NY – Jeffrey A. DeCecchis, 57, formerly of Copenhagen, passed away in the early hours of Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Samaritan Keep Home in Watertown, where he had been a resident for several years.

Jeffrey was born in Ridgeway, PA, on Aug. 7, 1961, son of the late Joseph B. and Alice A. (Long) DeCecchis.

He lived in Punta Gorda, Florida for much of his life where he worked as a yard manager at Cox Lumber Company for about 20 years.

During his time in Florida he was also very involved in the Sons of the American Legion Post #103.

He is also the past fire chief for the Copenhagen Fire Department.

Jeff is survived by a daughter, Ashley DeCecchis-Kavanaugh of Florida; four siblings, Lynn Marie (Dave) Forbes of Acardia, Florida; Joe (Jussara) DeCecchis of Arcadia, Florida; James DeCecchis of Copenhagen; and Leonard DeCecchis of Watertown; a sister-in-law, Joanne DeCecchis of Amsterdam; a brother-in-law, Douglas Clement of Burrville; three grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by a sister, JoAnne Clement.

Memorial donations in Jeffrey’s memory may be made to the Copenhagen Fire Department at 9950 State Route 12, Copenhagen, New York 13626.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019, at Hillbilly Inn. Burial will be held noon Sunday, June 9, 2019, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Copenhagen.

Jeffrey’s family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the second floor staff at Samaritan Keep Home for the exceptional care they provided Jeffrey during his illness.
