Joan B. Gamble, 85, Dexter

DEXTER, NY — Joan B. Gamble, 85, Dexter, passed away Thursday, May 10, at Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown, where she has resided for a year.

Born Nov. 30, 1932, in Watertown, the daughter of Francis and Orisa Walker Baldwin, she graduated from Dexter High School.

She married Chester J. Gamble on July 28, 1951, at the Dexter Presbyterian Church. The couple lived on Pillar Point.

She worked as an operator for New York Telephone and later was a bus-driver for General Brown Central School.

She was a Life member of American Legion Auxiliary in Dexter, Past Commander of VFW Auxiliary Post 1400, Watertown Elks Club, and Lil Angels Snowmobile Club. She enjoyed sewing, ice fishing, hunting and camping.

Surviving are her husband Chester and five children: Jody and Donald Paige of Brownville, Chester Gamble of Watertown, Billie and Fred McAdam of E. Aurora, NY, Gail and Richard Torres of Dexter and Timi and Jackie Gamble of Rome, NY.  She has 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, a brother Francis Baldwin of Kansas and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Norma Bishop.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Donations may be made to Alzheimer’s’ Association 441 W. Kirkpatrick Street Syracuse, NY 13204-1305 or Samaritan Keep Memorial Fund.
