John F. “Jack” Stewart, 78, formerly of Black River

BLACK RIVER, NY —  John F. “Jack” Stewart, 78, formerly of Black River, NY, passed away peacefully Oct. 14, 2019, at his home in Casselberry, FL.

He was born Nov. 26, 1940, in Glen Park, NY, a son of Sherman and Mildred Stewart, youngest of four siblings.

Jack is survived by his loving and devoted wife Nilda and four children, Tina Marie Stewart Belair, and her companion Ronald O’Dett, Croghan, Michelle Mannheim, FL, Troy James Stewart, FL and Nina Stewart Cooke of Rock Hill, SC, his mother in law, Generosa Reyes, FL, four grandchildren, Brendan Mannheim, Mary and Jordan Belair and Lily Cooke, many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jack and Nilda started their life together 47 years ago in Upstate New York.  Jack was in the restaurant business from the age of 17 first cooking in his parents restaurant, then owning several restaurants of his own including one jokingly known as “Ptomaine Jack’s”, where you could always find his friends, a laugh and a good time.

Jack moved his family to Florida in 1981 where he remained active with various business ventures, until his retirement.

Arrangements are with the Bruce Funeral Black River.

A graveside service will be held noon Thursday, Nov. 7, in Black River Cemetery.
