CROGHAN, NY — The memorial service for John K. Crosbie, 80, will be 4 p.m. Thursday, April 4, at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Watertown, with Rev. Jeffrey E. Smith officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of his family. Calling hours will precede the service at the funeral home beginning at 2:00 p.m.
John passed away Sunday, March 31, at his residence surrounded by his family and under the care of Hospice of Lewis County.
Born Aug. 8, 1938, in Bangor, NY, a son of Gilbert and Mary Steemburg Crosbie, he was educated locally.
He married Myrtle LaMora on Aug. 11, 1956, at Our Lady of the Sacred
John worked as a paper maker at Deferiet’s St. Regis Paper until his retirement.
John could fix anything. He enjoyed welding, wood working, & being around people. He also had great respect for the American flag, and donated monthly to St. Jude’s Hospital.
John was a former WEBELO’s scout instructor and N.R.A. member. He belonged to the Croghan American Legion and the Sackets Harbor Fish & Game Club.
John will be remembered as a caring, honest person.
Surviving besides his wife, Myrtle, are their children, Carol and Doug Monnat of Croghan, Patricia and Frank Buldra of Watertown, Jennifer Hutchins of Sackets Harbor; 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and his beloved dog Lucy.
Besides his parents, John was predeceased by a son, John W., and five siblings.
