WATERTOWN, NY  — The 25th anniversary North Country Heart Walk is coming up soon! To kick off the American Heart Association’s 2019 Heart Walk season, walkers, survivors, volunteers, team coaches, and corporate donors gathered for a “Heart Walk Happy Hour” at the Ramada Inn in Watertown. The evening featured healthy snacks, a chance to gather information about the Heart Walk, and time to meet with fellow Heart Walk participants and leaders.

The Heart Walk will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Jefferson Community College. The fundraising goal for this year’s event is $250,000. The 2018 Heart Walk chairman is Jamie Ganter, former executive vice president and chief operating officer of Knowlton Technologies, now retired.

“I’m proud to serve as the Heart Walk Chairman,” Ganter said. “Heart disease is our number one killer, and stroke is number five. So many of us are touched by these deadly diseases, and by the research and programs funded by the American Heart Association to fight them. Money raised at the Heart Walk helps save lives and make our community healthier.”
