LOWVILLE, NY –– Lewis County received reports of the first two cases of COVID-19 on March 28, 2020. As of this morning, there are a total of 13 cases of COVID-19 in the county. The new case identified this morning is in isolation at home. This case is not connected to the testing that has been done at the Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility.
With each confirmed case of COVID-19, Public Health staff investigate and identify close contacts and exposure risk. Those persons who have been in contact with the positive case will be placed in quarantine and monitored for symptoms and tested.
Recommendations for the use of isolation and quarantine are an important component of a multi-layered strategy to prevent sustained spread of COVID-19 in New York State.
