LOWVILLE, NY —Â Lewis County received reports of the first two cases of COVID-19 on March 28, 2020.
As of today, there have been a total of 19 cases of COVID-19 in the county.
The additional cases were identified Friday evening and are in isolation at home.
4 of the 5 additional cases are staff at the Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility.
Lewis County Public Health is working closely with the leadership at Lewis County Health System to identify close contacts and evaluate exposure risk. Those persons who have been in contact with the positive cases will be placed in quarantine and will be monitored for symptoms and tested.
Recommendations for the use of isolation and quarantine are an important component of a multi-layered strategy to prevent sustained spread of COVID-19 in New York State. To date, Lewis County Public Health reports the following number of quarantines, isolations, tests and results for COVID-19 testing and monitoring in Lewis County NY:
