LOWVILLE, NY ─ Out of an abundance of caution, and to help reduce the risk for exposure should a patient that meets the COVID-19 screening criteria enter one of our facilities, Lewis County General Hospital will restrict visitors of our patients. At this time NO VISITORS are allowed at the hospital.
There are a few exceptions, including:
ï‚· Scheduled procedures
ï‚· Maternity unit
ï‚· End of Life care
ï‚· Emergency Department
ï‚· Patient Admissions & Discharges
 For these exceptions, only ONE visitor will be allowed, and they must be:
– 18 or older
– Either immediate family members, health care proxy, guardians or patient
representatives
– Healthy with no symptoms of illness including respiratory or fever
Maternity Unit:
ï‚· Women in the Labor and Delivery unit are allowed to have one coach who may stay with the
patient 24/7. No other visitors will be allowed; this includes children under 18.
ï‚· Women who are having a C-section are permitted one coach in the c-section room and recovery room. No other visitors will be allowed; this includes children under 18.
End of Life Care:
ï‚· Visitors wanting to see patients who are experiencing end of life care, please notify the front desk staff to help facilitate visitation arrangements.
Emergency Department:
ï‚· One visitor per patient is allowed in the Emergency Department.
ï‚· Pediatric patients may have parents and or guardians.
ï‚· Critical or end of life visitation shall be at the judgment of the manager or nursing supervisor
Other restrictions in place include:
ï‚· The cafeteria is closed to the public – employees only
ï‚· Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility until further notice. There is an exception for “exigent circumstances,” but individuals must wear protective equipment (PPE).
ï‚· Nursing Home residents are restricted from leaving the facility.
