Lewis County General Hospital visitor restrictions update

LOWVILLE, NY ─  Out of an abundance of caution, and to help reduce the risk for exposure should a patient that meets the COVID-19 screening criteria enter one of our facilities, Lewis County General Hospital will restrict visitors of our patients. At this time NO VISITORS are allowed at the hospital.

There are a few exceptions, including:
 Scheduled procedures
 Maternity unit
 End of Life care
 Emergency Department
 Patient Admissions & Discharges
 For these exceptions, only ONE visitor will be allowed, and they must be:
– 18 or older
– Either immediate family members, health care proxy, guardians or patient
representatives
– Healthy with no symptoms of illness including respiratory or fever

Maternity Unit:
 Women in the Labor and Delivery unit are allowed to have one coach who may stay with the
patient 24/7. No other visitors will be allowed; this includes children under 18.
 Women who are having a C-section are permitted one coach in the c-section room and recovery room. No other visitors will be allowed; this includes children under 18.

End of Life Care:
 Visitors wanting to see patients who are experiencing end of life care, please notify the front desk staff to help facilitate visitation arrangements.

Emergency Department:
 One visitor per patient is allowed in the Emergency Department.
 Pediatric patients may have parents and or guardians.
 Critical or end of life visitation shall be at the judgment of the manager or nursing supervisor

Other restrictions in place include:
 The cafeteria is closed to the public – employees only
 Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility until further notice. There is an exception for “exigent circumstances,” but individuals must wear protective equipment (PPE).
 Nursing Home residents are restricted from leaving the facility.
