LOWVILLE, NY — The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office investigated a single snowmobile fatal accident that occurred on Flat Rock Road in the town of Montague.
On March 3, 2022, around 11:43 p.m., Jack W. O’Brien, 20, Otis, MA, was operating a 2020 Ski-Doo MXZ 850 south east on Trail C5A (Flat Rock Road) near the Poor Road intersection.
O’Brien failed to negotiate a right hand curve, drove off the groomed trail and struck a group of trees, deputies said.
O’Brien was pronounced deceases on scene.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by Martinsburg Fire Department, Lewis County Search and Rescue and Valley Snow Travelers Snowmobile Club.
