LOWVILLE, NY —Â Lewis County received reports of the first two cases of COVID 19 on March 28, 2020. As of today, there are a total of 9 cases of COVID-19 in the county.
A new case was identified late Saturday night. This individual is in isolation at home.
With each confirmed case of COVID-19, Public Health staff investigate and identify close contacts and exposure risk. Per New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) and Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines, those persons who have been in contact with someone who is positive for COVID-19 will be placed in quarantine and monitored for symptoms. A person who has tested positive for COVID-19 will be placed in isolation.
Recommendations for the use of isolation and quarantine are an important component of a multi- layered strategy to prevent sustained spread of COVID-19 in New York State.
To date, Lewis County Public Health reports the following number of quarantines, isolations, tests and results for COVID-19 testing and monitoring in Lewis County:

Pending Results – 8

Individuals Recovered – 5
Lewis County Public Health encourages the community to continue to protect themselves, their families and neighbors by following public health guidance for social distancing and washing your hands.
