ALBANY, NY — The University at Albany is welcoming more than 3,500 students to make up the Class of 2030, making it part of the largest first-year class in UAlbany’s history. Approximately 18,000 students are enrolled at the University this year.
The incoming class was selected from more than 36,000 applications and represents a 20% increase in first-year enrollment compared with last year. Students in the Class of 2030 come from 40 states and 35 countries, bringing a wide range of backgrounds and experiences to UAlbany.
Among this year’s incoming class:

More than 1,280 students are from New York City.

558 students are from the Capital District.
-
512 students are from Long Island.

451 students joined the University’s Honors College.
In addition to the new freshmen, UAlbany is welcoming more than 1,000 transfer students this fall.

After moving into their residence halls, these new Great Danes attended the University’s traditional Welcome Week events, introducing new students to the campus community. The week was highlighted by the annual class photo, followed by the University’s Convocation by Candlelight Ceremony.
The large incoming class reflects strong interest in UAlbany’s continued investment in student success.That investment includes an expanding portfolio of academic programs, stronger educational partnerships and enhancements to the student experience.
