LOWVILLE, NY — The Lowville Police Department arrested a village man after a traffic stop on North State Street at approximately 2:10 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5.
Derrick P. Barker, 44, was stopped for traffic violations and it was determined that Barker’s driver’s license was suspended 11 times.
A search of his vehicle results in officers locating 1.61 ounces of crystal methamphetamine, digital scales and packaging materials, police said.
Barker was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, a class B felony, and two counts of criminal use of drug paraphernalia. He was additionally charged with inadequate exhaust and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
Barker was arraigned in Town of Croghan CAP Court and released until a later date to reappear in the town of Lowville Court. The Lewis County Drug Task Force assisted Lowville police.
