Man accused of assaulting another with a baseball bat, Watertown police say

WATERTOWN, NY —  Austin L. Ball, 35, of 3324 Quaker Rd., Gasport, NY, was charged by Watertown police at 7:22 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, at 310 N. Michigan Ave. with felony counts of second-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Mr. Ball is accused of using a baseball bat to repeatedly strike Nathan J. Halaburka, 30, Watertown, causing an open gash to the back of his head at about 6:20 p.m. Wednesday at 310 N. Michigan Ave., according to court documents.

Police said Ball was previously convicted for contraband in a prison on Sept. 11, 2012, in Franklin County.

Ball was being held pending arraignment Thursday morning the County Court complex.
