Man charged with aggravated DWI after accident at W. Leyden store, deputies say

WEST LEYDEN, NY —   Robert T. Aldrich, 58, West Leyden, was charged by Lewis County sheriff’s deputies at 7:01 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, at Hilltop Market in the town of Lewis with aggravated driving while intoxicated. Deputies responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident.

Mr. Aldrich allegedly failed field sobriety scenes at the scene. His blood alcohol content was 0.20 percent, deputies said. A BAC of 0.08 percent or more is considered proof of intoxication under state law. Aggravated DWI, which carries harsher penalties upon conviction, is charged when the BAC is 0.18 percent or greater.

He is summoned to appear in Lewis Town Court at a later date.

West Leyden Fire Department and Constableville Ambulance assisted at the scene.
