EVANS MILLS, NY — Marion A. Shaw, 83, of Willow Street, passed away, Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, NY.
Born Jan. 22, 1935, in Adams Center, NY, she was a daughter of Frederick E. and Elsie Ferguson Miner, step-daughter of Louis D. Miner, she graduated from Adams Center Central School.
She worked as a nurse’s aide at Mercy Hospital and House of the Good Samaritan, both in Watertown, NY. She was also a 1965 graduate of Watertown School of Practical Nursing. Later working as a charge nurse at Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown, NY, for 17 years, retiring in 1990, due to health reasons.
She married Stanley C. “Stub” Shaw, son of Charles and Edna Eggleston Shaw, on November 19, 1954 at the Belleville Methodist Church Parsonage with Rev. Miles Hutchinson officiating. Attendants were Donald and Rosemary Russell of Smithville, NY.
Marion enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Stub; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Louis and Laurie Shaw, Evans Mills, NY, Richard Shaw, Adams Center, NY; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Jo and Wendell Putnam, Theresa, NY; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Billie Miner, Adams Center, NY; several nieces and nephews.
Two sons, David Lee Shaw and Randy Joseph Shaw, and a brother, Donald Miner died previously.
Marion requested no calling hours or funeral service.
