Mary L. “Loretta” Jones, 91, Theresa

THERESA, NY — Mary L. “Loretta” Jones, 91, of Morgan Street, Theresa, died Friday, June 8, 2018 at River Hospital, Alexandria Bay, NY.

Born April 4, 1927, in Russell, NY, the daughter of the late John and Celina LaBinge Roberts, she attended school at Edward-Knox Central School.

She married Gerald W. Jones, Sr., on June 10, 1942 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Canton, NY.  Mr. Jones died November 20, 1966.

Loretta worked for Sam’s Grill, as a bartender and waitress, Fortune’s Bar as a bartender and the Getman Hotel as a cook, all in Theresa, NY.  She also worked for the Fort Drum NCO Club as head bartender, the Spot and Homestead Restaurant, Alexandria Bay, NY, as a bartender and cook, until retiring in 2000.

She enjoyed BINGO, hunting and fishing.  She attended St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, Theresa, NY.

Survivors include four sons and a daughter-in-law, Arnold Jones, Evans Mills, NY, Darcy Jones, Gouverneur, NY, Frank Jones, LaFargeville, NY, Paul and Kelly Cole, Redwood, NY; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Pamela Delles, Philadelphia, NY, Mary-Ann and Ned Barnes, Ohio, Judy and Christopher Brass, Watertown, NY, Ruth Jones, Theresa, NY; three daughters-in-law, Elizabeth Jones, Terri Jones, both of Theresa, NY and Melody Jones, Evans Mills, NY; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her parents, her husband, three sons, Gerald Jones, Jr., Donald Jones, Sr., and David Jones, Sr., a son-in-law, Victor Delles, six brothers, George Roberts, Alphonse Roberts, Lawrence Roberts, Joseph Roberts, Frank Roberts, and Reme Roberts, four sisters, Elizabeth McDonald, Ruth Rice, Myrtle McIntire and Blanche Corbine all died previously.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:15 a.m. Thursday, June 14, at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, Theresa, NY with Rev. Christopher Looby, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Theresa, NY. A Remembrance of Life will be held at the Philadelphia Fire Hall immediately following burial.

A calling hour will be 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, 38422 NYS Rt. 37, Theresa, prior to the service.
