Massey’s Furniture Barn’s Bucks for Books initiative raises $9,248 for local school districts

WATERTOWN, NY —  Representatives from four libraries received checks totaling $9,248 on Monday through Massey’s Furniture Barn’s Bucks for Books Initiative.

The money will be used to purchase elementary-level library books. Massey’s funds the initiative by saving $2 from each sale the store makes during a calendar year. Overall, the Bucks for Books Initiative has generated more than $36,000 in donations since its inception in 2015.

The Beaver River, Harrisville, Sandy Creek and South Lewis school districts each received $2,312 on Monday.

Once the books are purchased, a member of the Furniture Barn’s staff will visit each library to stamp the books with the Bucks for Books logo. The stamps serve as permanent reminders of Massey’s commitment to the promotion of literacy and the store’s support of local schools.

Massey’s Furniture Barn has been locally owned and operated for more than 50 years.
