WATERTOWN, NY — Melvin J. “Cork” DeGone, 91, passed away Monday, Jan. 6, 2020, at the Samaritan Keep Home where he had been a resident since April 2019.
Melvin was born in Ogdensburg, NY the son to Adam and Muriel Sykes DeGone. After graduating high school, he served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1952 after service in Korea.
Cork had a great passion for horses, raising several in his lifetime.
He is survived by his wife, Claudette, Carthage; two daughters, Jacqueline (Mike) Caselle, Baldwinsville; Debbie DeGone, Watertown; two stepdaughters, Connie (Jeff) Kyser, Conn; Kathleen Kidd, N.H., three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by two brothers, Albert DeGone, Charles DeGone and two sisters, Fern Buck and Carol Friewald.
Per his wishes, there will be no services.
