WEBSTER, NY – Monica Fitzsimmons, 78, passed away early Wednesday morning, Nov. 25, at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NY.
Born Aug. 14, 1942, in Syracuse, NY, a daughter of Frederick DeLany and Monica Skehan, she graduated from Sacred Heart Cathedral High School, Syracuse and then from Eastman Dental School of Dental Hygienists.
She worked as a dental hygienist early in her marriage and then transitioned to the full-time job of raising a family with her husband.
Monica married Thomas Christopher Fitzsimmons on May 23, 1964, in Syracuse, NY before settling in Rochester.
Monica is survived by her husband, “Chris”, daughter Suzanne Fitzsimmons of Rochester, NY, two sons Matthew (Anna) of Rochester, NY, Robert (Lisa) of Kinderhook, NY and three grandchildren Alexander, Nora and Kasey. In addition she is survived by two sisters Margaret DeLany, MaryAnne DeLany Hesters, and two brothers Frederick DeLany and George DeLany.
She was predeceased by a brother, Daniel DeLany.
A memorial mass and burial at Barnes Settlement Cemetery, Alexandria Bay, will be announced in the spring of 2021.
