Natural Bridge man charged with DWI, menacing in Watertown

WATERTOWN, NY —  James H. Smith, 26, of 27520 Depot St., Natural Bridge, was charged by Watertown police at 1:08 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at Broken String tavern, 743 Huntington St., with driving while intoxicated and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation.

A blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or more is considered proof of intoxication under state law. Police did not provide his BAC.

He was additionally charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, and second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor. Mr. Smith allegedly displayed what appeared to be a handgun during a domestic incident at Sunoco, 430 Factory St., at about 12:30 a.m. Friday, according to court documents.

Police said he was previously convicted of second-degree contempt on Aug. 6, 2019, in Jefferson County Court.

He was being held pending arraignment Friday morning in City Court.
