Norris T. Hutton, 75, Watertown

WATERTOWN, NY — Norris Thomas Hutton, 75, died Aug. 17, 2018, at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown due to complications from lung cancer.

He was born August 15, 1943 in Alexandria Bay, NY, the son of Stanley Hutton and Charmaine Chambers. He was raised primarily in the Watertown area by his mother and step father Peter G Sacchetti.

Norris attended Watertown schools until his enlistment into the US Navy Sept. 13, 1961. He served for eight years in the US Navy during the Vietnam war and was honorably discharged on May 9,1969, as QM3. His service time was spent on the USS Northampton and the USS Park County primarily in the Vietnam arena.

Upon discharge he returned to the Watertown area and worked at Carolyn Pontiac for several years as a body and fender repairman. Later working as a salesman for a Comfort Windows, Combined Life Insurance and lastly at Time Warner in sales until his retirement.  He also served as a volunteer driver for Social Services until he was taken ill in May of this year.

His hobbies included coin collecting and online gaming. He also collected video games and movies and enjoyed taking long drives around the countryside.

Norris’s first marriage to Holly McIntyre ended in divorce without children. He later married Linda Brown Denning which also ended in divorce.  She had three children by her previous marriage John, Jamie, and Jennifer (aka Jennalyn) who Norris raised. Though he had no biological children and did not adopt, he treated his stepchildren as though they were his own.

Both of his biological parents, Charmaine and Stanley preceded him in death as did his stepfather Peter Sacchetti.

Surviving are two sisters, Gloria Hutton Longamore, Dexter NY, and Monica Hutton Boudreau and her husband Paul, Eastford, CT; a brother, Joseph P Sacchetti, Watertown NY; a step sister Nancy Sacchetti Perkins, Georgia and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his stepchildren, Jennalyn Dening Burnette, Lawrenceville, GA; John Dening, Gouverneur, NY; Jamie Dening, Syracuse, NY; and four step-grandchildren, Marissa, Matthew, Jakob and Samuel.

Arrangements with Reed and Benoit Funeral Home, 632 State St., Watertown.

Calling hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, with a funeral service at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery in the town of Watertown.
