North Star Health Alliance Advances Restructuring Efforts with State Support and New Financial Advisory Partnership
North Star Health Alliance (NSHA) today announced continued progress in its restructuring efforts through a strengthened partnership with the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) and the selection of a new financial advisory firm to support the organization’s next phase of transformation.
As part of ongoing collaboration with state officials, NSHA has received initial short-term financial support of $1.3 million from NYSDOH and is actively finalizing the details of a broader operational support framework. The agreement is expected to provide up to $15 million in structured assistance over the coming months to help stabilize operations while the organization continues implementing key restructuring initiatives.
“This support reflects the tremendous collaboration and commitment of the Department of Health and leaders across New York State,” said Interim Chief Executive Officer Andy Manzer. “We are deeply appreciative of their partnership and of the significant work that has gone into developing this critical support for our stabilization and restructuring efforts.”
We are grateful to our employees and medical staff, whose dedication, resilience, and unwavering commitment to their patients have been indispensable throughout this period. Their continued focus on providing high-quality care, despite significant uncertainty and personal sacrifice, has been vital to sustaining our mission and serving the communities that rely on us.
In addition, following a comprehensive evaluation process, NSHA has selected Accordion, a nationally recognized financial and operational consulting firm, to serve as its financial advisory partner as it moves through the financial restructuring process. Senior Managing Director Jim Porter and his team will work closely with NSHA leadership to support engagement with the federal bankruptcy court and assist in the implementation of the organization’s long-term operational restructuring plan, subject to regulatory review.
“These developments represent meaningful progress as we work to build a more sustainable healthcare system for the communities we serve,” Manzer said. “We remain focused on stabilizing operations, supporting our teams, and strengthening our ability to care for the North Country.”
NSHA will continue to share updates as restructuring milestones are achieved.
