WATERTOWN, N.Y. – Northern Credit Union announces that it will open two new relationship centers to better serve residents of the Croghan and Dexter communities and neighboring towns.
The decision to open locations in Croghan and Dexter follows the overwhelmingly positive response we received from social media posts, community leaders, and letters we recently sent to our members and residents in both communities.
“We are seeing the disappearance of many small towns and villages throughout Northern New York. My hope is that it never happens to Croghan,” said Croghan Mayor Michael Monnat. “When I see an organization like Northern Credit Union willing to expand into our community it gives me hope for the future. And I welcome them.”
“The Village of Dexter understands the closing of Key Bank may have created a hardship for some of our residents. As an attempt to fulfill our banking needs, we are currently working with Northern Credit Union to offer banking services within the Village,” said Dexter Mayor James Eves.
Northern Credit Union’s goal is to have lease agreements completed with staff and technology in place to open both locations by mid-June if all goes according to plan. In addition to convenient, personalized service, the new locations will provide members and residents with 24/7 ATM access and self-serve coin machines.

As work begins to open each relationship center, Northern will host on-site events weekly in Croghan and Dexter to meet the community, assist in opening new accounts and loans, and answer any questions.
The following dates have been set for the Croghan area community at the Croghan Fire Hall:
Saturday, April 13 at 9am – 12pm
Tuesday, April 16 at 3pm – 6pm
Thursday, April 18 at 2pm – 5pm
Saturday, April 20 at 9am – 12pm
Tuesday, April 23 at 3pm – 6pm
Thursday, April 25 at 2pm – 5pm
Tuesday, April 30 at 3pm – 6pm
