Notice of restricted waterway at French Creek in Clayton

CLAYTON, NY —  The New York State Department of Transportation is advising boaters who use French Creek in Clayton of an upcoming waterway clearance restriction at the bridge carrying State Route 12E over French Creek. The clearance restriction is necessary to allow crews access to the structural steel for cleaning and painting.

Work is expected to begin Monday, September 14 and is expected to be completed by Saturday, September 26.  During that period, navigation under the bridge will be restricted due to clearance requirements between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Work activities will be suspended daily between the hours of 12 and 1 p.m. to allow for the limited passage of boats.  Visual navigation warning devices will be in place to alert boaters of on-going work.

As part of the work, motorists using State Route 12E can expect alternating one-way traffic over the bridge during the same time period. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers.
