NYSP: 2 arrested following an underage drinking initiative in Lewis County

LOWVILLE, NY — On July 11, 2019, the New York State Police conducted an Underage Drinking Initiative in the Lewis County Towns of Lowville, Leyden, Lewis, Greig, Watson, West Turin and in the Villages of Lowville and Lyons Falls

As a result of the initiative, the following locations were checked:

  • Sliders – 6215 Number Four Rd, Lowville, NY

  • Greig Store—5529 Greig Rd, Glenfield, NY

  • Brantingham General Store – 5508 Partridgeville Rd, Brantingham, NY

  • Stewarts – 3906 SR 12, Lyons Falls, NY

  • Cliffs Store – 3205 St Rt 12, Port Leyden, NY

  • Hilltop Market – 1187 SR 26, West Leyden, NY

  • Nice N Easy – 3033 SR 26, Constableville, NY

  • Stewarts – 7491 S. State St., Lowville, NY

  • Sunoco A Plus – 7509 S. State St., Lowville, NY

  • FasTrac – 5610 Shady Ave., Lowville, NY

  • Lyons Falls Liquors—6085 McAlpine St., Lyons Falls, NY

  • Kinney Drugs—7395 Utica Blvd., Lowville, NY

  • Parkway Liquors—5405 Parkway Dr., Lowville, NY

 The State Police would like to commend these businesses for their compliance during this initiative and is grateful for their support in helping to prevent underage drinking.

The following locations were found NOT to be in compliance with the laws dealing with the sale of alcohol to persons under the age of 21:

  • Greig Store—5529 Greig Rd, Glenfield, NY

  • Hilltop Market – 1187 SR 26, West Leyden, NY

 As a result of the initiative, Rebecca C. Lynch, 25, Martinsburg, NY and Cynthia M. Nellenback, 56, West Leyden, NY were charged with Unlawfully dealing with a child in the first degree (PL 260.20) and Prohibitive sale of alcohol to a person under twenty-one years old (ABC 65-1). Both defendants were issued appearance tickets and released.
