NYSP: 4 arrested after alleged assault in Morristown

MORRISTOWN, NY — On May 21, 2020, at approximately 2:24 a.m., State Police responded to a report of a dispute at a residence on State Route 58 in Morristown.

An investigation at the scene led to the arrests of four people; 24-year-old John D. Latray III, of Massena, 23-year-old Shyann L. Shenk, of Ogdensburg, 20-year-old Katherine H. House, of Ogdensburg, and an 18-year-old from Ogdensburg.

All four suspects were found to have assaulted the male and female victims at the residence in the presence of a 9-year-old child, and then fled the scene in a vehicle, troopers said. The suspects were stopped by Ogdensburg Police and taken into custody.

Latray also menaced the victims with a machete. All four suspects were charged with one count each of third-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Latray was additionally charged with second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, all misdemeanor charges.

All suspects were arraigned before the Canton Town Court and released to reappear in Morristown Court at a later date.
