RUTLAND — State Police in Lowville are investigating an accidental drowning of a 4-year-old Amish child in the town of Rutland, Jefferson County.
On June 11, 2023, a 4-year-old male was located in a pond on Archer Road in the Town of Rutland.
Investigation revealed, the child’s father was attempting to locate the child when he located his son face down in the middle of the pond, which is located on the property, troopers said.
The child was transported to Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown for further medical treatment. Despite the efforts of the medical staff at SMC, the child was pronounced deceased. There were no signs of foul play or any evidence at the scene to indicate anything other than an accidental drowning.
The investigation is continuing.
