NYSP: Child brought to hospital found to have cocaine and marijuana in system

MASSENA, NY — On Nov. 10, 2021, around 2:11 p.m., troopers patrolled to Pickle Street in the town of Stockholm for an endangering the welfare of child complaint.

An investigation determined Jeffrey S. Jessmer, age 33, of Winthrop, NY, and Lisa A. Pitts, age 30, of Winthrop, NY, brought their child to the hospital that was very ill.  After a medical evaluation at Massena Memorial Hospital, the child was found to have cocaine and marijuana it’s system. The child was transported to a hospital in Syracuse, NY for further treatment.

After an evaluation the child was listed in stable condition.

Investigators consulted with the St. Lawrence District Attorney’s office regarding the case.

On Dec. 8, 2022, Jessmer and Pitts were arrested for Endangering the Welfare of a Child, first-degree Reckless Endangering, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance -intent to sell.

They were arraigned in the Town of Massena Court and released on their own recognizances.
