NYSP: Dexter man arrested on child pornography charges following a joint investigation

WATERTOWN, NY — The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, consisting of the New York State Police and the United States Department of Homeland Security Investigations Division, conducted a joint investigation regarding the distribution of child pornography via the internet over the course of several months.

On May 7, 2019, two search warrants were executed concurrently in the villages of Brownville and Dexter resulting in the arrest of 55-year-old, Gerald W. MacNeil, Dexter, NY, for (3) counts of Promoting a sexual performance by a child, (D felony), and (2) counts of Possessing a sexual performance by a child, (E felony).

The joint investigation determined that MacNeil was utilizing computers and software at a residence and business to distribute and possess images and videos of toddlers and other children who appear to be less than 16 years of age engaging in sexual conduct, troopers said.

MacNeil was arraigned in Brownville Town court and remanded to the Jefferson County Jail on $5,000 cash bail/$10,000 bond.

Additional charges are pending and this investigation is still ongoing.
