FORESTPORT, NY —Â On Dec. 9, 2022, State Police responded to 6032 White Lake Road in the town of Forestport for a reported missing person.
Troopers interviewed a family member who reported Michael R. Ingersoll, age 55 left his residence on an ATV at approximately 7:30 p.m. Dec. 8 and had not returned home.  Ingersoll’s ATV was located overturned on a steep embankment near Little Woodhull Creek in the town of Forestport. A search of the area and creek banks for Ingersoll yielded negative results.
On Dec. 10, 2022, a search of the creek was conducted by the New York State Police Underwater Recovery Team (URT).
Divers discovered the deceased body of Mr. Ingersoll in the water approximately one-half mile from the location of the ATV.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine an official cause of death.
Evidence at the scene indicated the death to be consistent with a drowning with no indication of any foul play.
The investigation is continuing.
