NYSP Update: Motorists involved in I-81 head-on crash identified

WATERTOWN, NY —  On Nov. 19, 2021, at 5:22 p.m., State Police responded to Interstate 81 southbound near Exit 45 for a two-vehicle head-on crash.

The investigation has determined a 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer, operated by Suzanne M. Beardmore, age 64, from Watertown, NY, was traveling northbound in the southbound lane when she struck a 2008 Pontiac head-on.

The driver of the Pontiac, Dwayne G. Cunningham, age 35 from Fort Drum, had to be extricated from the vehicle. He was airlifted to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse with non-life-threatening injuries.

Beardmore and her 27-year-old passenger were both transported to River Hospital in Alexandria Bay for evaluation.

Beardmore was issued tickets for Driving the Wrong Way on a One Way, Operating Without Insurance, and Disobey a Traffic Control Device.
